Announcement of the Regional Conference: “Unifying the voices for Ending Violence Against Women”

Roma Women’s Centre Bibija in partnership with the Coordination Body for Gender Equality and Coordination body for Monitoring of the Implementation of the Strategy for Social Inclusion of Roma of the Government of Serbia is organizing Regional Conference “Unifying the voices for Ending Violence Against Women”.
The conference is organized within the framework of the EU/ UN Women Regional programme “Ending Violence Against Women in Western Balkans and Turkey: Implementing Norms, Changing Minds”.
The partner organizations from the region are the Citizens' Association for promoting of education of Roma "Otaharin", Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina; NGO “Young Roma", Herceg Novi, Montenegro; and Roma Women and Youth Association “Luludi", Skopje, North Macedonia.
The purpose of the conference is to join forces of Governments, Roma women CSOs, experts and the international community to contribute to the development of measures aimed at reducing multiple and interlinked inequalities, discrimination, and violence against Roma women in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
At the conference, the regional report on compliance with the UN Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and European Committee Convention on Prevention and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention) related to discrimination against Roma women in the areas of healthcare, child marriage, and gender-based and domestic violence will be presented. The goal is to facilitate adoption of the Joint Statement with recommendations for decision-makers at all levels, to improve the position of Roma women in the Western Balkans region.
